Stacey Thomas just returned from Europe where he played with two European teams. In France and Finland.
FS/SF Stacey Thomas, a rookie free agent, is putting together a story of perseverance. The 22-year-old New Orleans native endured a 0-11 season at Texas Southern in 2004, broke his foot and couldn't play in 2005, then housed several family members in his Houston apartment who had escaped the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. After all of this, Thomas led Texas Southern with 114 tackles last fall, to go with five interceptions and four fumble recoveries, earning a shot to make an NFL roster.
05/04/07 - Undrafted Rookie Free Agent, signed by Bills: The 2006 SWAC Defensive Player of the Year had 114 tackles in his senior season with five interceptions, six pass breakups, four fumble recoveries, one sack and two returns for touchdowns. Ran in the 4.4's at his pro day and put up an impressive 27 reps on the bench press. "A physical safety that likes to come downhill," said Heinlen. "He played almost a hybrid linebacker at Texas Southern and he's a big kid that runs very well. He's more of a run-stopping, physical strong safety. Although, he is can also provide excellent coverage skills. If you put him in the right situation he should be a guy that's a special teams demon because he's so big and fast and likes to hit." - buffalobills.com
